SYNOPSIS
A funny, fast-paced romp through the masterpieces of Jane Austen as three actors take on all of Austen’s beloved heroines, friends, and love interests – and her incisive social satire – in just 80 minutes. But when they lose a cast member, the two remaining Janeites must teach an understudy about her work.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that an audience in possession of high spirits will be in want of a ticket to this big-hearted comedy that will delight Austen fans and newcomers alike.
CHARACTERS
Charlotte (a.k.a. Chuck): Plays a lot of roles – the “alto” of the trio, she has more sense than prejudice, a huge love for Persuasion, and the largest monologue in the play. Needs a quick-witted, sassy female who is great with character work and comedy and smuggles an assortment of accents around
with her.
Genders: Female
Ages: 20-30, 40-55
Jessica: Plays a lot of roles – the “soprano” of the trio, she has a kitty kind of energy and passion for Austen, a huge love for Pride and Prejudice. Needs a quick-witted, sassy female who is great with character work and comedy; also needs to dabble in accent work for fun.
Genders: Female
Ages: 20-30, 40-55
Trevor (a.k.a Harry): Takes a chance that the girls might need a replacement male for their show, and with no prior knowledge of ANY of the Austen novels, gets thrust into the deep end. Plays icons such as Mr Darcy, Mr Bennet, and Mr Knightley. Needs great comic timing, a love of ridiculous characters and an array of accents up his sleeve.

9 shows over 3 weekends, 26 Feb 2027 - 14 Mar 2027.

Friday and Saturday, 8.00 pm

Anyone can come along to meet the team, hear the play, or join in and have a bit of a sightread. We will swap actors and characters as much as we can. We’re looking for backstage helpers to join Team Jane too!
